The Distinguished Club Program

The Distinguished Club Program (often known by the acronym 'DCP') is a set of goals developed by Toastmasters International that helps clubs in achieving education, membership and administrative objectives.

The goals are designed to ensure the club is focused on areas key to club stability and growth.
Each club is measured each year against 10 points, achieving higher number of points gives a club recognition and ribbons.
It is worth remember that this is really a tool to ensure the club is focused on adding value to its memebers.

To participate a club must by in good standing and have either 20 members or a net growth of 5 membes

There are 10 goals each TM year (July-June) there are:

  1. Two Competent Communicator (CC) awards
  2. Two more CC awards
  3. One Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB), Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) or Advanced CommunicatorGold (ACG) award
  4. One more ACB, ACS or ACG award
  5. One Competent Leader (CL), Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB), Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) or Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award
  6. One more CL, ALB ALS or DTM award
  7. Four new members
  8. Four more new members
  9. A minimum of four club officers trained during each of the two training periods
  10. On time payment of membership dues accompanied by the names of eight members (at least three of whom must be renewing members) for one period and on-time submission of one club officer list

N.b. The first six points will change under Pathways (due to the change in the educational system. There will also be a crossover period where you may collect points from either educational program.

Earning enough points will win the club awards

  • 5 DCP goals completed – Distinguished Club
  • 7 DCP goals completed – Select Distinguished Club
  • 9 DCP goals completed – President’s Distinguished Club

Goal details

1. Two Competent Communicator (CC) awards

Self explanatory, to achieve this goal the club must submit two Competent Communicator (CC) awards. (two for one point)

2. Two more CC awards

Do it again. These goals are here to ensure that the club is developing new members into competent presenters.

3. One Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB), Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) or Advanced CommunicatorGold (ACG) award

Submit a single advanced communication award.

4. One more ACB, ACS or ACG award

Submit another one.

5. One Competent Leader (CL), Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB), Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) or Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award

6. One more CL, ALB ALS or DTM award

7. Four new members

Ensure the club is growing and attracting new members

8. Four more new members

These 8 members registrations are over the toastmasters year.

9. A minimum of four club officers trained during each of the two training periods

The Area will run COTS twice in each year. Ensure that at least 4 club officers are trained during each session.

10. On time payment of membership dues accompanied by the names of eight members (at least three of whom must be renewing members) for one period and on-time submission of one club officer list

N.b. The Club officer list is submitted by the outgoing club president before the start of the TM year it counts towards.
